| Want to tone your entire body without buying a space-hogging fitness machine? Turn to the Total Gym XLS, a top-of-the-line device that helps you strengthen and sculpt every major muscle group in your body using a single glide board and a few handy attachments. The Total Gym XLS works by making you lift a percentage of your body weight against gravity, creating a smooth and fluid resistance. As your strength and conditioning improve, you increase the total resistance by boosting the incline, thus increasing the body weight lifted in the exercise. The Total Gym XLS not only works your upper body, but also your lower body, abdominals, and even your cardiovascular system. And by reducing body fat and increasing the proportion of lean muscle mass in your body, the strength training effectively turns up the thermostat so that your body burns calories constantly. The Total Gym XLS offers several upgrades over previous models, helping it set the standard for fitness excellence. The upgrades include a new pulley and cable system, an improved squat stand, and more comfortable padding on the glide board. The device also comes with several handy accessories that add a new dimension to your workout: a Pilates kit that helps you improve your range of motion and balance; a leg pull accessory that works your quads, hamstrings, and other muscles; flexible nylon strap handles; and a wing attachment for toning various back and arm muscles. Combined, the accessories and glide board support up to 400 pounds, letting users with a variety of body types work on strength and stability. The Total Gym XLS also comes with a complete line of workouts and workout tools, taking the guesswork out of getting into shape. The workouts and tools include:

About Total Gym Total Gym made its initial mark in rehabilitation centers, where its main focus was aiding people recovering from physical injuries and obstacles. The device is the perfect rehabilitation tool for several reasons: the smooth, gliding motion is easy on the joints; the various height levels accommodate every fitness level; and the padded glide board provides excellent support for the back. After years of success in the rehabilitation field, the product's inventors introduced the product to Chuck Norris 30 years ago. Norris--who calls it his "lean, mean exercise machine"--still uses the Total Gym today as his primary home fitness device. Christie Brinkley has also been a devoted user for more than 10 years, and uses it to stay lean and fit even through two children and a hectic schedule. |

| We had seen so many different types of equipment that we didn't know which ones really provided an excellent workout without killing us in the process. My wife and I were very happy when we received this product with minimal setup (10 minutes) and we were following the DVD moments afterward. What a great workout! We also have a bowflex, but this new equipment can do things the bowflex can't. We use them in unison and recommend the Total Gym to anyone willing to workout 15 minutes every other day. |

Easy to use right out of the box. It is heavy, but definitely manageable. There is a start up DVD that shows you exactly how to set it up right out of the box. You will be working out with in less than 30 minutes, perhaps less if you don't worry about putting away the packing material and accessories.
Plenty of workout videos to watch, and workout along with the video. The workout chart, and workout deck of cards clearly illustrates how to do exercises properly, and is easy to follow. There is a wide variety of exercises to perform, with variations to work the same muscle. There are included workout routines, in addition to the routines in the DVDs, to get you going.
i find that their is enough resistance to challenge me for now. I intend to use it for general fitness improvement and muscle toning, not for body building to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The Total Gym seems solid. It is heavy, though not unmanageably so. There is a safety mechanism to keep the Total Gym from collapsing, which is easy, and not obstructive. The glide board is very comfortable and gives plenty of head support. The foam pads have enough cushioning, and is comfortable as well.
I find it easy to fold and put away, although I do tend to leave it out since I use it several times a week. |

| We love ours, even our friends come over to use it. It's a smooth workout that helps take pressure off your joints, but still gives you a great workout. My husband was already in great shape, but found that even though he's strong and in good shape he still gets an advanced workout with the total gym. |
For The Serious Body Builder!

| I love the Total Gym XLS! I use to be into body building and I worked out with weights allot, but the problem with weights is that they tend to put allot of stress on your joints and if your not careful you can drop plates on yourself or hurt yourself badly with them. Some people think that if you're into body building that you can't use the Total Gym to build huge muscles, but that's not true! Because many times even in the world of body building it's not "How Much" weight you lift, but "How" you lift that counts! With a little know how the Total Gym XLS with the optional weight bar can easily give you more than enough weight to start building serious muscle mass fast! For example, bear with me for just a little bit while I go into detail in regards to its serious resistance potential. To start things off the maximum weight limit for the XLS is rated at 400 pounds. Now just to give you an idea, no matter if your using the pulley cables or not, along with your own body weight you will also be lifting the weight of the glide board itself which is somewhere between 15 to 25 pounds, but I'm not positive on that, so for the sake of discussion lets say the glide board is 20 pounds. If you use the optional weight bar with weights and you add on, lets say, 100 pounds, you're basically lifting a 120 pound glide board along with your own body weight! Now, if you do the math, you will understand better why I say that the Total Gym "Can" be used for the serious Body Builder for serious muscle building! |
Fantastic Home "Total Gym"

I purchased this as my first piece of equipment for my home gym. I had been contemplating the Total Gym since 2004 and finally took the leap. What a great product! It came assembled, but did take some finesse to set up because it was heavier than I expected. Nonetheless, it's "heavy size" is good because it is a stable and solid machine.
The best features are as follows:
1) Deck of cards -- there is a variety of workouts and makes it easy for me because it pre-plans rather than having to go in and plan out an efficient workout. It takes 3 minutes to order the deck of cards for my workout and I am ready to go.
2) The ease of the machine -- it slides smoothly, there is no noise, and it feels more consistent than some of the pieces of equipment at my local gym.
3) Results -- I felt immediate results and the progress seems to be better than at my local gym. This machine helps in ensuring proper form and it is a better alternative to free weights at home. I feel that I have not lost out in any way by canceling my gym membership ... in fact, I think I have gained!
4) Professional and enticing look -- I must say it catches people's eyes when they see this machine and a lot want to know, "What is it? Does it work? How does it work?" I still cannot get over the fact that I own one. It has a professional look to it, not the look of a cheap and flimsy machine that you can purchase anywhere else.
5) Colors -- Blue and black go great! It looks like a state of the art piece of equipment and feels as such too. (I am a girl, colors and the look is quite the winner on this one :-))
Some improved suggestions:
1) Wing attachment warning -- The wing/pull up bar is located under the Total Gym. When taking it apart, do NOT forget to pull it out. I completely did not realize and began to slide on the board, when it got stuck, I thought it was because of the Styrofoam under, so I forced the board forward, causing a small tear on one of the handle bars. (I am still bitter about that months later!)
2) Price -- I got a great deal on my machine when I purchased it a month and a half ago ... today, I see it went down quite a bit on price, so I am a little bummed about that, but still know that I got a good value for my money.
All in all, you get what you see, no gimmicks, and you will love it. If anything, consider your busy home/work/family life and put a time value on driving out to the gym to wait for some of the machines if not all. It's nice to NOT have to share and be able to get a decent workout. Total Gym has made a lifelong customer out of me and I regret it took me 6 years to get one.
